Scrap lead acid batteries are classified as hazardous waste. Lonsdales hold a Scrap Metal Dealers site licence with Walsall MBC and are licensed with the Environment Agency to carry and dispose of hazardous waste.  Our waste carriers licence and qualified ADR drivers permit us to transport batteries to or from our site, or to a third party, using our own vehicles. 

​We purchase scrap Lead Acid industrial or automotive batteries such as those from: 
  • Cars, mobility scooters, golf trolleys
  • Heavy goods and commercial vehicles
  • Industrial traction batteries
​PLEASE NOTE: WE ONLY ACCEPT LEAD ACID BATTERIES. WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT NICAD (NICKEL CADMIUM) OR LITHIUM BATTERIES

Whether you require regular collections or a “one off” we will:
  • give advice on best practice for the storage and collection of batteries
  • ​provide skips, ro-ros, bins and other containers FREE OF CHARGE as part of our service
  • make collections FREE OF CHARGE (subject to minimum weights) to a pre-agreed schedule or on a next day basis - when you need a collection just pick up the phone and book it in
  • ensure that all paperwork is completed and filed in accordance with Environment Agency requirements (including consignment notes for transportation and quarterly and annual returns) in order to provide the necessary paper trail.  We can also help you with originator paperwork to fulfil your obligations
